Étoile de Janvier
1 January, 2013As of today Remi assumes the mantle of principal dancer with Dutch National Ballet, one of the world’s top ranking classical ballet companies. Principal is the highest level obtainable for a professional dancer (in France the title is elegantly dubbed ‘étoile’) and is the culmination of a life in ballet. Remi started dancing in Adelaide aged four and went on to perform with The Australian Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. He has since traversed many of the world’s most glittering stages, including the Sydney Opera House, London Coliseum, Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, Mikhailosky St Petersburg and New York’s Metropolitan Opera House. Announcing the promotion, Dutch National Ballet artistic director Ted Brandsen praised Remi’s theatricality and sensitivity as a performer.
Bravo Remi! May your promotion to Principal Dancer bring you joy and success. Still missing your wonderful performances here, fingers crossed we might see you as guest artist at the AB one day. Best wishes always Kay Williamson x
Thank you for your kind words Kay, I hope to guest soon.
